Our Story

Minimal & Mine was established in 2024 and founded in Calgary Alberta by Rachel Cuatiz and Ishmael Korah. This Canadian brand was inspired to promote mindfulness, stress relief, and simplicity. Our passion stemmed from creating a candle to represent peace in your home alongside aesthetic and minimal visuals. We have always been interested in home decor and would constantly buy candles, trying to recreate the essence of relaxation within home fragrances. In 2023 the founders realized that their skills and passion for home scents and decor would be best represented by creating

Minimal & Mine. Our candles promote long-lasting fragrances that are eco-friendly, gluten-free, toxin-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free, and cruelty-free. Our candles simplistically spark calmness and beauty. A minimalist lifestyle that ensues relaxation and mindfulness. We define minimal as living simply and having just what you need for everyday life. To enjoy life without getting caught up in its craziness. Mine signifies belonging to oneself; owning our characteristics, and ideals, and practicing self-care despite life’s challenges.

We take pride in our hand-poured candles and believe in making a quality item for our customers. Our products are made of Coconut Soy Wax that is eco-friendly, sustainable, and long-lasting. To create a cozy and peaceful atmosphere, each candle has a crackling wood wick. This allows the candle to burn straight, and have a cleaner burn. Minimal & Mine values sustainability and aims to minimize waste by implementing recycling programs, reducing packaging, and using materials that are reusable or biodegradable. We aim to create a quiet ambiance so you may rest and feel at peace wherever you may be.

Rachel Cuatriz

Rachel is a Cofounder and the Creative Director of Minimal and Mine. She has had an interest in home decor and aesthetics for as long as she can remember. Rachel is very bubbly and has a welcoming personality. When she isn’t hard at work, you can find her listening to R&B music all day, spending time with friends and family, and trying new places to eat! One of her passions is working with at risk populations such as sexually exploited youth, addictions, and homelessness. She spends her time helping many individuals reach their potential, and providing an empathetic ear. She is one of the most hardworking people you will meet, and she will always put her all into what she does. Rachel has big dreams and aspirations for Minimal and Mine and is determined to provide their customers with an exceptional and memorable product.

Ishmael Korah

Ish brings a vibrant blend of cultural perspectives as a Ghanaian-Canadian and a professional background in petroleum engineering to their role at Minimal and Mine. He is deeply involved in the production process, where his passion for innovation shines through in the creation of new and unique candle scents. Making candles is not just a job for him; it's a personal passion that he cultivates by experimenting with diverse fragrances and techniques. When not engrossed in the aromatic world of candles, they can be found playing soccer, where they bring the same energy and teamwork from the field to the production floor.
